When you were born, an angel smiled,
As you became a child, an angel sat on your shoulder.
When you became an adult, an angel held your hand
And when you died, another angel got his wings.

My dad Malcolm passed away on the 17th September 2007 very suddenly from a heart attack. He was 48
years old and has three daughters myself (Catherine), Rose-Marie and Jacqueline. He has one sister
May and four brothers Johnny, Frankie, Alec and Paul. He has three grandchildren, Noah (aged 3),
Chloe (aged 2) and baby lewis (aged 4 months). My dad lost his eyesight due to his diabetes and
never got the chance to see them. My dad was the kind of man who walked down the street and knew
everyone, he was a friendly and caring person, helping anyone out any way that he could. Losing his
eyesight was the worst thing that could have happened to my dad, he was very independent and seemed
to give up when this happened. My dads health began to go down hill from here. On the morning of
the 17th, i experienced something i never could have imagined, i found my dad, this has been very
hard to come to terms with and im taking each day as it comes, but it is very difficult. My dad
always thought he was a comedian, cracking jokes all the time!!!!. Even to this day i still
remember his joke about painting the kitchen and it always makes me laugh, i guess thats what i have
to remember to do, remember the good times and memories, what my dad would want his three daughters
to do. My dad was a huge UB40 fan and used to think he was a reggae star, boogying around the
living room dancing to their music, not realising me, Rose-marie and Jacqueline were watching him.
We had planned to take our dad to the concert on December 13th for his birthday on the 15th
december, but sadly this wasn't meant to be. So as a tribute me and my two sisters went together.
My dad meant the world to me, i moved in with him when he turned blind to help take care of him. My
dad always called me the baby because i am the youngest, he always had a soft spot for me. Since my
dad passed away i feel apart of me is missing. Four months before my dad passed away my brother
passed away from cancer at the age of 26(Kevin Gallagher-webpage also been set up for him on gone
too soon). Not a day goes by that i dont think about my dad or brother. I visit their graveside
everyday, 2 to 3 times a day. I regularly change their flowers and make sure their graves are
looking nice and tidy for them. Visiting my dad and brother at the graveyard is my special time
with them, where i feel i can talk to them and be around them when im feeling low. Although, in my
heart is where they will always be and stay.

I always took for granted,
what I thought I'd never lose.

But what hurts me even more

What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt? So, I just wanted to say, even if I never talk to you again in my life, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life. I look up to you, respect you, and truly cherish you. Send this to all your friends, no matter how often you talk, or how close you are, and send it to the person who sent it to you. Let old friends know you haven't forgotten them, and tell new friends you never will.
